2025 highlights: building rehabilitation and heritage expertise

As 2025 comes to a close, KALAM reflects on a year defined by highly specialised building rehabilitation and heritage restoration projects, with a growing presence in the United States and an established track record across Europe and Latin America.

From our offices in New York and Miami, KALAM has delivered complex interventions in the heart of Manhattan, as well as projects across Florida and Wisconsin, applying advanced technical expertise to architecturally significant and landmark buildings. In 2025, the restoration of the Royal Thai Pavilion at Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison was recognized with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Wisconsin 2025 Award.

Our international activity extends beyond the US. In Chile, the historic Iquique Theatre reopened its doors this year following a comprehensive restoration, reinforcing KALAM’s experience in large-scale cultural heritage projects. In Portugal, we have developed distinctive rehabilitation proposals for historic residential buildings in the heart of Lisbon, contributing to the revitalisation of consolidated urban environments.

In Spain, KALAM continues to work on some of the most significant heritage landmarks, including Seville Cathedral, with interventions in the north transept, dome vault and cathedral roofs, and the Cathedral-Basilica of El Pilar in Zaragoza, where we completed the restoration of its two main towers and the Chapel of San Joaquín. The year also closed with the reopening of the Casa del Labrador, at the Royal Palace of Aranjuez, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, following its full rehabilitation.

Looking ahead, we remain committed to delivering technically rigorous, carefully executed rehabilitation and restoration projects, combining international experience with local expertise.
